MEALS AND NUTRITION
iPLANETS ACADEMY believes nutrition is the foundation for a healthy body and supports growth and brain development. This time is vital in our day. Children learn about food from many cultures, cooking skills, a conversational give and take, self-help skills, nutrition, wellness, manners, and patience.
Each month our menus will include foods kids love but also healthy selections of whole grains, vegetables, fresh seasonal fruits, milk (Soymilk, Almond or Coconut), low sugar selections, and 100% juice. Foods with a high incident rate of choking are not used or are modified to reduce any risk of choking.

So please feed them accordingly.
UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES IS A CHILD TO BE DROPPED OFF HUNGRY IF MEAL TIMES ARE MISSED.
Nothing is more important than ensuring our little ones are properly fed and ready to physically participate in the events of the day. Neglect will not be tolerated. Multiple instances of this type of neglect will be reported to the proper authorities and/or your enrollment may be terminated.
We ask for your cooperation by not allowing your child to bring any food without prior approval. NO EXCEPTIONS!
Your child’s well-being is our top priority, so please help us by letting us know of any food allergies your child may have. Special dietary accommodations will be made upon written instructions of a Licensed Medical Professional or Licensed Nutritionist.
The children are encouraged to serve and pour for themselves as much as possible during meals and snack time utilizing the “family style” dining method. This fosters more self-help skills. We will say grace of thanksgiving at the table before each meal.
Manners will be used and taught to the children during meals. Children are expected and encouraged to display table manners and remain in their seats during meals and snacks.
Children are not allowed to bring candy or gum to iPLANETS ACADEMY without prior approval. They are also not allowed to bring in half-eaten snacks or meals.

So please ask if you have ANY questions to avoid any confusion or issues.
Avoiding pork in this country is difficult because pork and pork by-products use a variety of names when they are included in many of the foods, health products, and cosmetics we buy.
Did you know that glycerine is often made from pork and is commonly used to make toothpaste and soap?
Pork products are sometimes used to make snack foods such as puddings, jello, chips, crackers, cookies, donuts, and marshmallows including marshmallow bits in cereal and hot cocoa. Pork products are also found in some brands of cake frosting, cheese spreads, yogurt, margarine, and ice cream. Look for words like lard, animal fats, animal glyceride, hydrolyzed animal protein, enzymes, emulsifiers, monostearate, mono and di-glyceride, and gelatin on the label when you buy these products. Dairy products such as whipped cream, sour cream, and cheese may also contain gelatin or rennet. Rennet is an enzyme that turns milk solids into cheese. Animal rennet is most often used. Look for mono and di-glyceride (forms of glycerine), or enzymes on the label.
They may not all be made with pork but the only way to know for sure is to contact the company or look for the Kosher marking (K or U) on the label. Pork in the form of glycerine, keratin, collagen, and tallow is used in cosmetics and toiletries. Some common ones that contain pork or pork by-products are lipstick, shaving cream, toothpaste, hand lotion, bath soap, and shampoos. Pork is also hidden in detergents, cleansers, dish liquids, and soaps.
Some medications may also contain pork products; the most common is the gelatin-coated tablet of the gelatin capsule (gelcaps). The Physicians Desk Reference is a reliable source that we can refer to for the names, ingredients, indications, reactions, and brands of every prescription and non-prescription drug or medication on the market.

After hours of exciting, educational, and fun activities your child's body needs rest. This is to let you know what to expect for your child during nap and rest times.
Daily naps for children are essential for good days and good nights. Many parents believe their child will sleep better at night without a nap during the day. However, if your child is overtired, they may become stressed and irritable, and their behavior may actually worsen. Often they become overactive, making it difficult to fall asleep at bedtime.
Napping daily can be beneficial for your children. Children who nap have longer attention spans and are less irritable than those who are not napping. Children need this time to re-group.
We have scheduled rest times:
Afternoon Nap Time-Varies
Overnight Rest Time- 8:00 PM to 8:00 AM (sometimes earlier depending on the situation)
During Nap Times I will be doing things I need to do but will check on them periodically to ensure they are resting and safe. The children will be placed on individual cots, toddler mattresses, or twin beds. For overnight children I will be also resting but accessible to all children at all times.
There will be a night light for those who need to use the restroom during the night time.
Cots, crib mattresses, and twin beds are sanitized with Lysol before and after each use to help prevent the spread of germs. The crib/toddler mattresses and cots are wiped down with disinfecting wipes. GO HERE for the MSDS on the disinfecting wipes we use.

As a parent you are welcome to bring your own linens for your child which shall consist of a Twin fitted crib sheet, a light Crib sized or twin-sized blanket and small standard twin-sized pillows with a pillowcase for nap & rest times. No stuffed animals or blankets/sheets larger than twin-sized are allowed, no sleeping bags (unless we are camping or asked to do so) or large pillows. For those regularly scheduled they are to be taken home weekly to be laundered and returned to be stored in their own personal cubbies. Please check daily to ensure they are not soiled or need to be laundered. NO OTHER ITEMS ARE ALLOWED.
No child shall ever be restrained at any time to take a nap but all children will be required to stay on their cot and quiet to respect others who are napping. Child(ren) who repeatedly fail to follow this rule may be asked to not return to iPLANETS ACADEMY
No child is to ever sit on, play on, play with bedding, or get in the bed with another child at any time. Child(ren) who fail to follow these guidelines may be terminated.
If you should arrive during rest time; please quietly enter and keep your child quiet on your way in/out as to not disturb the other children. We ask that you minimize these disturbances as rest is a very important part of child development.
We use the Dream On Me Crib Mattress. You can find more information by GO HERE.
